Nancy Wood

Born in London in 1961, Nancy enjoyed drawing and painting from an early age. While still at school, she discovered a gift for portraiture and started sketching her friends and family, but despite her obvious talent she decided to pursue a successful career in industry. Although she continued to spend most of her spare time producing striking watercolours which were hugely popular with her friends and colleagues, it was not until 1996 that Nancy finally took the bold step of abandoning her conventional career and taking up painting full time.

Nancy¹s chosen subjects, delicate florals and bold abstracts, are executed in transparent watercolour which is still her preferred medium. She finds that this is the only method that can produce the luminous effect so characteristic of her dramatic images.

Nancy quickly established herself within the artistic community and her work gained a wide and enthusiastic audience. Her Original paintings are featured in galleries all over the UK, and she has held numerous successful solo exhibitions in Europe and the USA. She now divides her time between Southampton and the South of France.
